Why Breakin'It Down? Ashley
Grisso developed a curriculum for middle school-aged girls to deconstruct
music videos in the Mission District of San Francisco. The focus was
gender stereotypes, though race, class and American consumerism were
explored. A short video documentary (Tascone, Grisso) and Master's
thesis were created in response to the research. Excerpts follow: |
